Introducing the KR x DP FX Cave Hero, an extraordinary collaboration between KR Sabers and Dave Parkin Art, bringing to life what we believe to be the most accurate fully functional FX recreation of Luke Skywalker's legendary hero lightsaber ever produced.

Inspired by the iconic lightsaber seen in the deleted cave construction scene from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, this project represents the culmination of countless hours of research, design, engineering, prototyping and refinement.

Our goal from the very beginning was simple: to recreate the original Cave Hero prop as faithfully as physically possible, without compromising the functionality expected from a modern, premium FX lightsaber.

Every curve, colour, material, dimension and seemingly insignificant detail has been carefully considered. From the smallest imperfections in the original prop to the intricate construction of the control box, nothing has been overlooked.

This is far more than another Luke Skywalker lightsaber replica. It is our tribute to one of the most fascinating and iconic props in Star Wars history.

Dave Parkin has undertaken the extensive research and design work behind the Cave Hero, meticulously studying the original prop and its unique construction details to achieve an exceptional level of screen accuracy.

Engineering & Development | KR Sabers & James, Jimmy's Saber Junk

All engineering and mechanical development has been undertaken here at KR Sabers, working closely with our senior engineer James from Jimmy's Saber Junk. Together, we have translated Dave's extensive research into a fully functional, precision-engineered FX lightsaber, balancing screen accuracy with modern electronics, installation requirements and mechanical functionality.

Electronics Installation | Chris Carter, SaberSense Installs

Every Cave Hero will be professionally installed by Chris Carter of SaberSense Installs, using a Proffieboard V3.9 and a dedicated SaberSense programming package developed for this project.

The result is a lightsaber that combines historical prop accuracy, precision engineering and sophisticated modern electronics in one exceptional collector's piece.

Obsessive Attention to Detail

What truly sets the KR x DP FX Cave Hero apart is the extraordinary attention paid to the smallest details of the original prop.

Rather than creating an idealised interpretation, we have worked to reproduce the distinctive characteristics, construction methods and imperfections that make the original Cave Hero so unique.

Some of the many carefully recreated details include:

• Screen-accurate anodised neck colours, carefully selected to reproduce the distinctive appearance of the original prop.
• The tiny emitter dimple, a subtle but important detail faithfully incorporated into the design.
• Blade plug with shine-through illumination, including the small machining imperfections visible on the face of the emitter nipple. 
• Accurate pommel cube grooves, faithfully reproduced to match the original construction.
• Real low-carbon steel tri-ring, manufactured to replicate the original material and appearance. Allows for true tarnishing over time. 
• Intentionally uneven ring details, preserving the unique characteristics of the original prop rather than artificially perfecting them.
• Handmade control box reveal boards, individually assembled in-house to reproduce the intricate internal details.
• Real copper control box rails, rather than painted or imitation copper components.
• Accurate grey ABS rail supports, recreated using the original Plastruct-style L and T profiles, carefully stacked to reproduce the original construction.
• Real mechanical fasteners, incorporated throughout the design wherever appropriate.

One of our favourite details is the control box itself. The PCB card slides backwards and forwards, revealing the intricately constructed internal board beneath.

Each reveal board is handmade here at KR Sabers alongside Dave Parkin, with considerable attention given to the arrangement, materials and appearance of the individual components.

These are the kinds of details that can easily go unnoticed at first glance, but they are precisely what makes this project so special.

Authentic Materials & Precision Manufacturing

The main hilt components are precision CNC machined from T6061 aluminium, with carefully selected finishing processes to reproduce the appearance of the original prop.

Wherever possible, we have avoided substituting genuine materials with cheaper cosmetic alternatives.

The control box rails are manufactured from real copper, the supporting profiles are recreated in grey ABS plastic, and the tri-ring is manufactured from low-carbon steel.

Please note: As the tri-ring is manufactured from real low-carbon steel, it can naturally develop surface oxidation and rust over time. This is an inherent characteristic of the material and part of the authentic construction of the replica.

Every hilt will be manufactured, assembled and inspected here in the United Kingdom, undergoing a stringent quality control process before being passed to our installation team.

For this reason, the Cave Hero is available in five distinct chassis configurations, ranging from our beautifully engineered ECO system through to our extraordinary, fully detailed ELITE metal reveal chassis.

Each chassis has been developed specifically for the Cave Hero, ensuring a carefully considered fit and finish.

ECO

Our ECO chassis provides a clean, functional and reliable installation platform without unnecessary complexity.

Manufactured from black carbon-fibre-filled PLA (PLA-CF), the ECO chassis is designed to securely accommodate the electronics while maintaining a professional internal appearance.

An excellent choice for collectors who primarily wish to enjoy the exceptional external accuracy and FX functionality of the Cave Hero.

ECO-CC

Building upon our standard ECO design, the ECO-CC introduces a beautifully contrasting crystal chamber.

The main chassis is manufactured from black PLA-CF, while the crystal chamber is printed in a contrasting bronze-coloured PLA.

This creates an attractive internal presentation while retaining the practical construction of our ECO platform.

ECO-MAX

The ECO-MAX takes the internal presentation considerably further, combining modern functionality with a more elaborate crystal chamber design.

Featuring a black PLA-CF chassis and contrasting bronze-coloured PLA crystal chamber, the ECO-MAX introduces several additional features:

• Spinning plasma gate
• OLED display
• Bluetooth module
• Detailed contrasting crystal chamber construction

ECO-MAX CAST

The ECO-MAX CAST retains the functionality and features of the ECO-MAX but takes the construction to another level.

Instead of a 3D printed bronze-coloured crystal chamber, this version features a genuine cast brass crystal chamber, providing the unmistakable appearance, weight and finish of real metal.

It combines the sophisticated features of the ECO-MAX with the premium craftsmanship of traditional metal casting.

ELITE

The ultimate Cave Hero chassis experience.

Our ELITE chassis represents the pinnacle of this project and is an extraordinary piece of engineering and craftsmanship in its own right.

Developed and manufactured in-house at KR Sabers, the ELITE combines a protective black PLA-CF lower electronics chassis with an intricately detailed full-metal crystal chamber reveal.

The metal assembly features a wealth of carefully considered decorative and functional details, including:

• Fully detailed metal crystal chamber construction

All installations are undertaken by Chris Carter at SaberSense Installs, using the latest Proffieboard V3.9 soundboard.

Each saber will feature a dedicated SaberSense programming package developed specifically for the Cave Hero, providing a carefully tailored experience to complement this exceptional replica.

This is a strictly limited edition project, with no plans to produce additional units beyond the original 100.

Every saber will form part of this exclusive production run and will be accompanied by its own numbered plaque and Certificate of Authenticity.

Of the 100 units, 15 were allocated to our exclusive Mark Hamill Signature Plaque Edition, all of which have already been reserved.

Production Schedule & Lead Times

Due to the complexity of this project and the considerable amount of work involved in manufacturing, assembling and installing each individual lightsaber, please allow a production and installation lead time of up to approximately six months.

Every Cave Hero will be professionally assembled and installed here in the United Kingdom, with each unit undergoing a comprehensive quality control process before dispatch.

To ensure an efficient and consistent installation process, we will be completing the sabers in batches according to their chassis configuration.

Installation order:

This means that all ELITE installations will be completed first, followed by ECO-MAX CAST, ECO-MAX, ECO-CC  and finally ECO.

The more elaborate chassis options require significantly more assembly and installation time, particularly the intricate metal components and additional electronics found within the ELITE.

Due to the exclusive nature of this project, its limited production quantity and the considerable manufacturing and installation work involved, orders are considered a firm commitment once placed.

Once your order has been confirmed, it will be allocated to the production schedule and the manufacturing and installation process will begin.

Please do not place an order unless you are fully committed to purchasing the product and are comfortable with the stated production lead time.

Cancellation requests or changes of mind after ordering cannot ordinarily be accommodated once production has commenced. This does not affect your statutory consumer rights, including any applicable cancellation rights or remedies for faulty, misdescribed or non-conforming goods.

Please also be aware that each lightsaber is individually assembled and inspected. Minor variations in surface finishes, natural materials and handmade details may occur, particularly with the copper, brass, steel and handcrafted internal components.

These characteristics are inherent to the manufacturing processes and contribute to the individuality of each piece.
